Musings From Our New Home

· 3 min read ·

Well, here we are folks! She & Jim have just moved into a new part of life — literally moving into a some stability as far as residence goes — an interesting juxtaposition against the striking instability of the greater world.

Yes, it’s true — we signed a lease on an apartment and moved in one week ago! Someday perhaps we’ll reflect on the woes of apartment hunting and the love & loss that comes with it. Today, we focus on the present! So, to give you some perspective, we are currently sitting on a couch that we found on Facebook marketplace and, while retrieving it, we met a really cool woman that we hope to be friends with one day. In front of us is a coffee table that we retrieved from Lakewood for the great price of free-ninety-nine. Below it, a rug donated by my cousins 🙌 who we hope to feature quite soon in a Meet The Host edition. The rest of the apartment is simply furnished with necessities, though even some necessities are yet to be acquired. That doesn’t matter right now. We are happy. We are so grateful to be settled into a new home by a lake with mountain views and less than a mile from my cousins. Though the world is a pretty wild place right now, we are finding comfort in the little wins — like finding a plant store down the street, learning that our in-unit laundry does a good job at washing things, and that the light streams in through the windows quite dreamily in the morning.

This past week was actually quite productive for the two of us, despite the fact we didn’t get internet until Thursday afternoon. While many of our friends are discussing what “a new normal” looks like in their lives in light of the coronavirus, our sense of “normal” has changed so many times over the past year that we don’t have a “before” comparison and thus I think it’s made it easier for us to adapt.

Lately we’ve both been spending a lot of time writing. James writes about object-oriented programming and I write blogs on yoga & mindset for people that are craving tools to balance hard work and self work. I’ve also been diving deeper into my coaching program that I started at the end of 2019 as well as the pre-work for a business accelerator that will begin in April. I’m having a blast building my business, creating content, and working with clients on their goals! I look forward to when Denver is back to business-as-usual so that I can start making more connections and test out some yoga studios!

James & I are taking the advisement to quarantine quite seriously. We go out for walks (but in the early morning when only the bold are out and about) and we pop into the grocery store (only when we are in dire need of produce or oats) but otherwise we stay inside ✌️. I’m feeling grateful for our time in Slovenia (when, if you remember, it rained 95% of our visit and we got comfortable entertaining ourselves indoors) as well as our time on the road in general (which taught us to get crafty with our cooking and to generally live well together during trying times). We make bread frequently, play with our new pull-up bar (donated by my cousin, Evan), I’m getting serious about practicing my handstands, and James is staying tightly connected to his group of college/climbing friends via Discord.

Thanks for continuing on this adventure with us! See photos below for even MORE experiences we’ve had. Please comment below what positive things are happening in your world these days. Sending virtual hugs 😷 🤗

We installed a Tushy! I’d spend more time promoting it but they’re currently SOLD OUT! 😩 Makes sense, as it’s a killer solution to the tp problem.
